We collaborate with Telefónica in two of the 5G pilot project use cases in Galicia, presented today in Vigo

Today the 5G Pilot was presented in Vigo. It will be promoted by the Galician Government through a public tender managed by Red.es. With a budget bigger than 11 million euros a two years period, the 5G pilot in Galicia is already in its first phase of development and includes eight use cases in fields such as health, transport, naval industry or sports.

The presentation has been chaired by the (acting) Minister of Economy, Nadia Calviño. The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo; the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero; the (acting) Secretary of State for Digital Advancement, Francisco Polo, and the CEO of Telefónica Spain, María Jesús Almazor, among other authorities, also participated in the presentation.

In addition to the institutional opening, the event included a panel presented by the head of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Roberto Sánchez, accompanied by the general manager of Red.es, David Cierco Jiménez de Parga; the Chief of Operations, Network and IT of Telefónica España, Joaquín Mata, and the manager of Innovation of Telefónica España, Mercedes Fernández.

Use cases: Navantia and R.C Deportivo de la Coruña

We collaborate with Telefónica in this project with the implantation of two use cases:

  • The first one is aimed at Industry 4.0 and framed by Navantia Astillero 4.0 digitalization plan, aiming at remote technical assistance to machines in production with augmented reality and 3D models. This includes the visualization of virtual pieces in situ to identify possible problems and 3D streaming in real time to validate with exactitude the constructed blocks of the ship.
  • The second is developed with the R.C Deportivo de A Coruña. It aims to produce sports events with the club and implement the TV5G solution in the Riazor stadium and in the sports city that the Dépor operates in Abegondo (A Coruña) to serve both the professional broadcast and the user via 5G.
